The Solo Game Reference! By A.J. Porfirio
Hostage Negotiator is a solitaire card and dice game where you play the role of a law enforcement agent responsible for negotiating with a hostile Abductor who has taken hostages.
There are multiple paths to victory, but the Abductor has other plans : will you try to calm him and convince him to surrender? Will you stall and bide your time before sending in the team for a Major Extraction? These are many of the exciting decisions you will make in Hostage Negotiator!
Use your wits to adapt to whatever the Abductor throws your way in order to save the hostages and win the game! However, you must choose: capture him alive or eliminate him…
CRISIS! Today you got the call. It only happens on rare occasions, but it is what you have spent your life preparing and training for… Hostages have been taken! You head to the command center near the scene. The Crisis Commander briefs you on the situation, then you pick up the phone and the mental jousting begins…
In Hostage Negotiator each round in the game represents a conversation between you and the Abductor. You play cards and roll dice to increase Conversation points, decrease the Threat level, and release hostages.
In the meantime, you need to acquire more Conversation points in order to buy more cards. Above all, you must save the hostages! However, time is running out: after each conversation, you resolve a Terror Card making your objective even more difficult…
Hostage Negotiator uses a unique “Hand-Building” mechanic that puts cards you purchase directly in your hand for next turn rather than leaving you wondering when the cards will show up like in deck building games.
