The Watchmen crossover set for DC Comics Deck-Building Game adds a new element to deck-building games: Hidden Roles! As in the original story, one of the members of the team has their own ideas on the best way to solve the world’s problems. The Villain must work towards his or her secret plot while not making it too obvious. “Loyal” players will strive to overcome various challenges, though the “Villain” of the story can disguise his or her intentions by helping with these challenges as well. Should the Mastermind Plot become hatched, the Loyal players will certainly have their work cut out for them…
Your goal? It all depends on your team!
- If you are a “Loyal” team member, you want to beat the Challenge cards before the main deck runs out.
- If you are the lone “Secret Mastermind”, you want the main deck to run out of cards before the last Challenge card is overcome.
Uncovering the Secret Mastermind is not the ultimate goal and does not end the game, but it is always helpful to know who you can trust! Therefore, it might be in the Secret Mastermind’s interest to work in the shadows!

At the end of your turn, if you did not buy or gain a card from the Line-Up, add the top card of the main deck to the Line-Up: this can result in a Line-Up of more than five cards. Players can’t stall the game by not buying cards: the time to act is now! Time is ticking and the Secret Mastermind will try to achieve his Villainous Machination in order to reveal his Mastermind Plot Card! If he meets his goal, your mission will be harder…
This is not a standalone product. DC Comics Deck-building Game or Heroes Unite is required to play.
